The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted raids on the premises of noted builders Hiranandani brothers, who have been accused of "evasion" of employees provident fund.The raids have been conducted at eight places belonging to Hiranandani brothers in the city.
The agency has registered a case against Roy, his wife Radhika and RRPR Holdings for allegedly causing losses of Rs 48 crore to ICICI Bank, CBI sources said.
The CBI has said the mall belongs to Yadav who has made investment in the project through a company.
A FIR registered by the CBI claimed that Major General Anand Kumar and his family members had six immovable properties worth a total Rs 5.33 crore in Delhi, Shimla and Gurgaon. The accused and his family members also had bank balances and fixed deposits to the tune of Rs 57.86 lakh and various other investments totalling Rs 1.21 crore.
This is perhaps for the first time the CBI raided a serving police chief of a state.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a plea by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleging interference and obstruction by the West Bengal government, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in its probe into an alleged coal-pilferage scam.
